Baby Steps to Meditation is a unique meditation program based on 20 years of experience and study. It is both simple and elegant. Anyone can learn how to meditate using the step-by-step approach. The following is a quick overview.
Step 1) Understanding and Motivation
Before you begin to meditate, you need to understand what meditation is, what it can do for you, and, furthermore, what motivates you to meditate, because motivation will become the fuel for your practice.
Step 2) Relaxation
If you cannot relax, you cannot meditate. In this step, you will learn several proven practices that will help you reach deep states of relaxation. Even if you go no further, relaxation has been shown to produce many of the same benefits as meditation.
Step 3) Concentration
Once you can sit still and relax, you are ready to learn concentration, the master skill. An increased ability to concentrate will positively affect every area of your life. At this point, you will learn two approaches to concentration, one traditional and the other similar to mindfulness.
Step 4) Meditation
With a strong foundation and a regular practice, you will begin to unveil peaceful states. The peace will then begin to permeate other areas of your life, influencing everything from emotional control to sleep and more.
Progress and Practice
During the process, you will be provided with measuring sticks or mile markers to make sure that you build a strong foundation. The program is all about creating a lasting practice. It only takes a few hours to learn, but years to master.
